What is Indexing?

Indexing lures researchers into the actual interview using key words and synopses of the content to entice them. It is much like taking notes: listening for topic sentences (the questions posed), and writing the main points and summarizing them (responses to those questions).

Here is a great article by the Nunn Center describing the indexing process - Indexing Interviews in OHMS: An Overview.

Please contact us at OralHistoryProject@peacecorpsconnect.org if you are interested in becoming an Indexer.
